In Brantôme, on the banks of the Dronne, Bimbillou Parc immerses you in a fascinating troglodytic world. Much more than a simple historical site, it's an immersion in rock, memory and nature, shaped by men and time.

Unique remains shaped by history

The jewel of the park is the first troglodytic mill built by the Benedictine monks of Brantôme, carved into the rock. Beside it, an unfinished hotel and a troglodytic house recall the architectural and spiritual richness of this place, marked by centuries of human occupation.

But Bimbillou Parc also includes karst caves, natural cavities, and old stone quarries. These geological and heritage features reveal the secrets of the Périgord subsoil.

A natural trail between caves and river

The park unfolds along a carefully designed path, winding its way between caves, cliffs, and mysterious nooks. At each stop, visitors discover a piece of history while enjoying the natural coolness of the caves (an average of 18°C). Between the picturesque grottoes and the riverbank, the experience blends heritage with sensory immersion.

A family challenge taken up by two young cousins

This troglodytic site opened its doors in 2023 thanks to the tenacity of two young cousins, Théo Bauchaud-Martinot and Tom Gilbert. Fulfilling the dream of their grandfather, Claude Martinot, meant overcoming many challenges: securing the caves, creating an accessible route, meeting regulations while preserving the authenticity of the place.

This project, driven by passion and perseverance, has transformed a derelict troglodyte site into a vibrant space open to the public. Bimbillou Parc is thus the fruit of tireless work, both a family tribute and an extraordinary human adventure.

Today, the troglodytic site is also a family park, offering period wooden games, a puzzle trail, and activities suitable for all ages. Blending history, geology, and leisure, Bimbillou Parc offers a unique experience in the Dordogne.
