    • Bimbillou Park: a rare and vibrant troglodyte site in the Dordogne

In Brantôme, on the banks of the Dronne River, Bimbillou Park immerses you in a fascinating troglodyte world. Much more than a simple historical site, it is an immersion in rock, memory, and nature, shaped by men and time.

      Unique remains shaped by history

The jewel of the park is the first troglodyte mill of the Benedictine monks of Brantôme, dug into the stone. Beside it, an unfinished hotel and a troglodyte house recall the architectural and spiritual richness of this place marked by centuries of human occupation.

But the Bimbillou Parc also has karst caves, natural cavities and old stone quarries. These are all geological and heritage witnesses that reveal the secrets of the Périgord subsoil.

A natural trail between caves and river

The park is discovered along a landscaped path, winding between cavities, cliffs and mysterious nooks. At each stage, the visitor discovers a piece of history, while enjoying the natural coolness of the cavities (18°C on average). Between the picturesque caves and the riverside, the experience combines heritage and sensory immersion.

A family challenge taken up by two young cousins

If this troglodyte site opened its doors in 2023, it is thanks to the tenacity of two young cousins, Théo Bauchaud-Martinot and Tom Gilbert. Realizing the dream of their grandfather, Claude Martinot, meant overcoming many challenges: securing the cavities, creating an accessible route, meeting standards while preserving the authenticity of the site.

This project, driven by passion and perseverance, transformed a derelict troglodyte site into a vibrant space open to the public. Bimbillou Park is the result of tireless work, both a family tribute and an extraordinary human adventure.

      An experience for everyone

Today, the troglodyte site is also a family park, offering period wooden games, a puzzle trail and activities suitable for all ages. Between history, geology and leisure, the Bimbillou Parc offers a unique experience in the Dordogne.

Bimbillou Park is a living example of how a troglodyte site can be reborn thanks to family passion. Between karst deposits, monastic heritage and a natural trail, it invites each visitor to explore the depths of history, rock and memory.

I absolutely loved Bimbillou Parc! I've had the pleasure of witnessing its evolution, and it's truly wonderful to see how far it's come. The trails are brilliantly designed, and the terrace under the trees is a magical place to relax with a drink or a meal. I highly recommend this place, and the passionate team is definitely worth the trip. I can't wait for my next visit!

A very warm welcome, a pleasant, educational, and fun site. The adjoining bar and shop are two little gems. The added bonus is the food truck and its charming, casual terrace by the water!

A magnificent recreational park, surrounded by nature, with a beautiful museum of traditional crafts; we had a wonderful time. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and the campervan area is lovely and very clean. I highly recommend it.
