    • Caves and karst cavities: a journey to the heart of the rock at Bimbillou Parc

Bimbillou Park, located in Brantôme in the Périgord region, reveals an underground universe shaped by nature and human history. Here, visitors explore a unique karst and troglodyte site, where water has sculpted impressive cavities, caves and troglodyte quarries over the centuries.

      A rare geological curiosity

The Bimbillou formations bear witness to the millennia-old work of the Dronne and the infiltration of water into the limestone rock. This phenomenon has given rise to a spectacular site, offering visitors a real immersion. The natural coolness of the place (15 to 18 °C) makes the visit pleasant even in summer.

      When nature and history meet

These natural caves have been inhabited and transformed by humans over time. Benedictine monks, quarrymen, and local residents have left their mark, giving rise to an exceptional troglodyte heritage : a mill dug into the rock, a troglodyte house, an unfinished hotel, and old quarries. Each cavity tells a different story from the past.

      A family and heritage adventure

It is in this timeless setting that two young cousins, Théo and Tom, chose to realize the dream of their grandfather, Claude Martinot. A great collector of ancient objects, he saw in this unique site an ideal place to transmit history and memory. Today, his grandsons have converted these cavities into an original visitor trail, between geology and living memory.

      A fun and educational discovery

The tour of the caves is not limited to observation: the Bimbillou also offers an enigmatic treasure hunt and period wooden games, allowing families and children to experience the visit in an interactive way. The site is thus transformed into a place of exploration, where you can learn while having fun.

Between geology, history and human adventure, the Bimbillou Parc is an unmissable site in the Dordogne for all those curious about nature and heritage. Its caves and karst cavities offer an unforgettable experience, at the crossroads of science and memory.
