Grotte carrière de Brantôme Underground quarries and troglodyte history in Brantôme

A series of underground quarries located under the rocky outcrop overlooking the Dronne were exploited during the construction of the abbey and the village of Brantôme. The guided tour of the Brantôme quarry cave will take you to discover the hidden history of Brantôme, troglodyte dwellings housed in the heart of a limestone cliff which served as a quarry from the 19th century until the 1950s. Interesting graffiti allows you to follow the evolution of the activity.

Bring a sweater and closed-toe shoes. Lamps are provided for the duration of the tour.
