Bara-Bahau cave Caves and chasms, Prehistoric Sites in Le Bugue

The Bara-Bahau cave is a decorated cave from the Upper Palaeolithic. Located along the Vézère valley in the commune of Bugue in the Dordogne department in New Aquitaine, it measures approximately 100 meters.

It presents a geological interest, in particular by its eccentric concretions, and especially prehistoric, by the parietal engravings which it contains. It takes its name from a local Occitan onomatopoeia which means "badaboum" in reference to the collapsed blocks visible in the first room. Private property open to the public, it was classified as a historical monument in 1961.
