By going to the Grotte du Grand Roc, you will first be surprised by the breathtaking view of the Vézère Valley. Then, you will explore a veritable small mineral forest composed of an incredible variety and density of crystallizations. Will you be able to recognize stalactites, stalagmites and calcite flows? You will also be amazed by the impressive number of eccentrics! Not to be missed: the nighttime visit to the cave with the storm lamp during the summer. Winter and summer, take advantage of the cave's natural air conditioning, 16° all year round!

      EVENTS:

      • Night visit to the hurricane lamp: school holidays.
Equipped with a hurricane lamp, you explore the cave in conditions similar to those of its discovery by Jean Maury in 1924. A second exploration using the usual light will reveal the beauty of this mineral forest and you will be able to admire the incredible variety and density of crystallizations.

      • European Heritage Days: September 21 and 22
      • This year, we are celebrating 100 years since the discovery of the Grand Roc

This is a small cute cave. We had a very professional tour guided by Laurence. Its geology is so different than the ones I’ve seen in US. it’s worth the trip to the area.

Fantastic tour, very friendly and helpful guide who dealt well with a mixed French and English speaking group. Lovely cave, amazing geology, and a great view from the entrance out over the valley. Well worth the visit.

Had a fantastic visit today and what a surprise. Not a huge cave, but so much to see and understand; took far too many pictures. An overwhelming experience. Our knowledgeable and sociable guide made our visit even more special.
