Grotte du grand roc: THE SECRETS OF THE UNDERGROUND WORLD
Nestled in the cliffs of the Vézère Valley, the Grotte du Grand Roc is an exceptional natural site discovered in 1924. Recognized for the richness and diversity of its mineral formations, this cave is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside, you will be amazed by the incredible density of its crystallizations, including its stalactites, stalagmites and eccentrics, which form a real "mineral forest".
A place of geological exploration
In addition to its natural heritage, the Grotte du Grand Roc offers visitors an immersion in the world of geology and prehistory. The formations reveal secrets buried in the bowels of the earth, while the proximity of the Abris de Laugerie-Basse just a few steps away reinforces the historical aspect of this visit. You can learn more about the evolution of the valley and its former inhabitants while admiring this natural masterpiece.
Unique visiting experiences
- Guided tour: The Grotte du Grand Roc offers guided tours that take you to the heart of its crystalline formations. Accompanied by a guide, you will discover the geological secrets of the cave and learn to distinguish stalactites, stalagmites, and other mineral curiosities.
- Hurricane Lamp Tours: For the more adventurous, Hurricane Lamp Tours are also available, offering you an exploration by flickering light. This 1-hour tour recreates the atmosphere of Jean Maury's original 1924 exploration.
Winter and summer, enjoy the natural air conditioning of the cave, 16° all year round!

04/11 > 31/12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. - (closed on Mondays except during school holidays and public holidays)
