You guessed it, the Médiévales de Bourdeilles return this year on July 26 and 25, 2026 for a journey back in time to the Middle Ages, a weekend not to be missed this summer.

It is no surprise that the Bourdeilles Medievals take place at the Château de Bourdeilles, a place full of stories to discover all year round. Magnificent with its towers and gardens, it includes two superb buildings between the Middle Ages castle and the Renaissance dwelling, two structures to visit on a self-guided or guided tour. Explore the rooms and corridors in search of the richest furniture collection in Aquitaine, the bedrooms and the gilded living room, as well as the courtyard of the count's castle or the remains of the baronial castle. Knights, ladies and minstrels, welcome to the Château de Bourdeilles! This year again, good humor and conviviality are back for two days of activities and entertainment on the theme of the Middle Ages, with fascinating demonstrations :

• Cyril Smolack’s blacksmithing demonstration, set amid fire, anvil, and hammer, is a spectacular show that brings to life the daily lives of medieval blacksmiths— fascinating for young and old alike.
• The Three Staves reveal the art of the cutting sword through precise movements and the mastery of a knight in all his glory.
• Jadis Coiffure unveils the secrets of medieval hairstyling, a delicate art form that reveals the beauty standards and hair-styling techniques of the era.

In the morning and afternoon, there are many demonstrations to present you with the traditions of the Middle Ages during the Bourdeilles Medievales.

Knights tended to fight a lot, whether to win a victory, or to charm a courted lady. Discover the customs of the time through larger-than-life shows that take you back to the time of swords. Throughout the day, the Compagnie l’Âme des Armes presents to you:

• “The Juggler's Soul”,
• “Fighting with a fencing master”

These medieval fencing shows are impressive with mastered staging and an integrated touch of humor. Open to all, they delight young and old who keep their childish soul.

Les Médiévales de Bourdeilles, the unforgettable moments of summer

Starting at 10 a.m., Bourdeilles Castle opens its doors in a friendly, medieval atmosphere, punctuated by roaming musicians and the first concerts. The day flows seamlessly: behourd combat, artistic fencing performances, a lecture on traditional distillation, demonstrations of military strategy... right up to the grand castle concert featuring Nicolas Fendt and Les Dryades, which closes out the day at 6 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, be sure to check out the workshops: coat of arms painting, coin minting, crossbow shooting, or the Excalibur challenge; stroll through the medieval market where woodworkers, leatherworkers, jewelers, artisan soap makers, wool merchants, herbalists, and costume makers await you; and watch demonstrations of medieval hairstyling, blacksmithing in action, or even traditional bookbinding.
