Feeling great: in the heart of the venice of the périgord

Brantôme...the Venice of the Périgord. A romantic and unusual place! A stroll around the beautiful island formed by the Dronne, the small river that flows around it, will leave you speechless... Walk around its lanes and discover the small shops and restaurants, all of this makes me feel hungry! Should we go for lunch? Yes, but in a waterside restaurant and with a view on the cliff, it is so picturesque!

Welcome to the Hotel Restaurant Charbonnel! With its white facade and its vintage lettering, you are undoubtedly in an institution! The gourmet restaurant offers a delicate cuisine, made from traditional products from the Périgord. Updated and complemented with audacity, the classic dishes such as the breast of duck or the foie-gras, are enhanced by the young talented and enthusiastic team in the kitchen.

The hotel Restaurant Charbonnel is a family business. I am warmly welcomed and walked up to the beautiful terrace overlooking the Dronne River. While waiting for the menu to arrive, I gaze upon on the view, the ducks, and the various boats crossing under the bridge, what a nice atmosphere...

I am hungry! The menu offers an attractive choice and I let myself be tempted by the roasted breast of duck with nectarines. I push the door of  the kitchen to admire the preparation, are you coming with me? I always loved cookery programmes, but this is far better! The plates are true pieces of art and the kitchen atmosphere is great. I follow my plate up to my table to savour it... Yuuummm, with a great wine (the sommelier can advise you on a wine to complement your choice of dish and your tastes), it is paradise!

The highly anticipated dessert is here, I have chosen a vanilla profiterole accompanied by a scoop of artisanal sorbet... A real melting creamy delight combining perfectly with the soft acidity of the fruit ... well chosen ;)

Would you like to spend one night or more in Brantôme? Charbonnel also offers bedrooms including some with a river view and a small balcony. They have double, twins and family bedrooms... The breakfast buffet is as impressive as the performance of the restaurant.

Around the hotel, you can enjoy all the leisure of the region: boat rides, discover the local fauna and the flora in the Park Périgord Limousin located few kilometres away... Périgueux, which is the largest and closest town, is only 25 minutes away by car. The Hotel Restaurant Charbonnel also has a bar, where you can sip a cocktail, a drink or a coffee. On Sunday, the atmosphere is very pleasant; it is the meeting place of the locals who like sharing a family meal in this beloved restaurant
