  Lascaux II, opened in 1983, is the first facsimile, located in Montignac on the hill protected by Unesco, a few meters from the original cave. Discover the exact replica of the axial diverticulum and the hall of the bulls which represents 90% of the paintings of the famous cave. Leaving the light of day for the world of darkness, you will have the privilege of being the only group and the feeling of walking through the original cave. Throughout the visit, the guide will strive to recreate the emotion of discovery and introduce you to the intimate and universal art of Lascaux. Lascaux II, offers in-depth and thematic visits by reservation.

Went with a tour group. The tickets were prepaid and reservations were made a head of time. Very cool experience. There is a little park/hike you can do outside the actual cave.

Incredible recreation of the original cave! Book in advance because there is a lot of demand, but definitely worth it. We had a ver nice guide explaining everything in detail and in a very interesting manner. Left the tour very satisfied and interested in why this was done so long ago. Its a must.

Beautiful experience, with an extremely knowledgeable staff. Gwenn did a phenomenal job walking us through the tour, and was great at explaining the images and the different speculations surrounding them. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here, and can’t wait to do more research on the area!

We'd previously been to Lascaux IV and while that is the bigger (having more of the caves reproduced) and certainly more modern, this felt a lot closer to the real thing: less clinical and 'perfect...
