ÒRT DISTILLERY SPIRITS

Inspired by the tradition of traveling distillers, the recipes for our spirits are a tribute to the flavors of Périgord: the sweet smell of the earth in summer, the herbaceous freshness of wild thyme or the spiciness of juniper.

The first spirit from the Òrt distillery is a gin, the Gin de nos Jardins. We have selected a dozen plants and spices to create our version of French gin. Thyme, rosemary, marjoram, lavender and juniper are grown organically on the farm.

To obtain a subtle gin, we pick the aromatic plants in the morning, when they are most concentrated in essence. Citrus fruits are peeled just before distillation. To make you travel a little more on this piece of land, we distill water from springs present on the farm.

Gin de nos Jardins Tasting Notes

Nose: First sensation: a cloud of icy lemon, followed by thyme and oregano on a bed of juniper, then notes of lavender and grapefruit. You will also find sweet notes of orange blossom and a hint of green pepper.

Palate: A fore-taste of juniper and lime which opens the palate towards spring flowers, fresh grass, lavender candies. The gin has a velvety texture on the palate.

Aftertaste: The experience ends with the voluptuousness of freshly cut rosemary.
