Les Oies du Périgord Noir Discover life on a family farm in Périgord

Established in January 2000, we are the 4th generation to develop this family farm. On our farm you can discover and share our profession of breeder-breeder-force-feeder-canner. We will explain the life of the Toulouse grey goose specially selected for its ability to make meat and foie gras. On our farm you will discover the profession from A to Z, starting with our breeding geese and ending with tasting our products.

WHY COME TO US?

You can enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and the advantages of the city without its nuisances in our gites 10 minutes from Sarlat with a relaxation area at your disposal 500 meters from our accommodation by reservation.

Visiting hours during the summer period are from Tuesday to Friday at 10am by reservation only. The rest of the year or for groups, contact us (06 86 73 80 38). Visits will be organized throughout the week.

Come and discover our farm located 10 minutes from Sarlat and our profession as breeder, breeder, force-feeder and preserver. We process our preserves ourselves in an artisanal way.

LIFE ON OUR FARM

Our one-day-old goslings arrive on our farm. We keep them warm in one of our buildings at around 30°C. This period is the most delicate because we have to manage the temperature, the feed (we also produce cereals in organic farming which supplement the daily ration of our geese composed of commercial feed), the watering as well as the first outings to the outside which will take place around 2 to 3 weeks depending on the season. We grow part of the cereals consumed by our geese, our method of working the soil is in organic farming.

Over the past few years, we have planted more than 2,000 trees and shrubs on our farm.

Then, these goslings are led into grassy runs. But, at nightfall, they return to their building because of predators and this until they are 14 to 18 weeks old.
