Les Oies du Périgord Noir Visits and tastings in Prats de Carlux

Established in January 2000, we are the 4th generation to develop this family farm. On our farm you will be able to discover and share our profession of breeder-breeder-feeder-conservator. We will explain to you the life of the Toulouse gray goose specially selected for its ability to make meat and foie gras. On our farm you will discover the profession from A to Z, starting with our breeding geese until the tasting of our products.

You can enjoy the calm of the countryside and the advantages of the city without its nuisances in our gites 10 minutes from Sarlat with a relaxation area at your disposal 500 meters from our accommodation by reservation.

Visiting hours during the summer period are Monday to Friday at 10 a.m. by reservation only. The rest of the year or for groups contact us (06 86 73 80 38), visits will be organized throughout the week.

Come and discover our farm which is located 10 minutes from Sarlat and our profession of breeder, breeder, feeder and canner. We transform our preserves ourselves in an artisanal way.

THE LIFE OF OUR BREEDING

Our one-day-old goslings arrive on our farm. We install them warm in one of our buildings at around 30°C. This period is the most delicate because it is necessary to manage the temperature, the food (we also produce cereals in organic farming which come to supplement the daily ration of our geese composed of food of the trade), the watering as well as the first outings which will take place around 2 to 3 weeks depending on the season. We cultivate part of the cereals consumed by our geese, our method of tillage is organic.

In recent years, on our farm, we have planted more than 2000 trees and shrubs.

Then these goslings are directed in grassy courses, but at nightfall, they join their building because of predators and this until their 14 to 18 weeks of age.
