The region of Sainte-Alvère, historic stronghold of Lostanges, constitutes the western tip of Périgord Noir. It is a very hilly region whose most limestone hillsides are the domain of truffles. Until the 1960s, the region was a major producer of truffles. For almost 30 years, the Sainte-Alvère market has offered numerous buyers quality truffles controlled by quality commissioners.

In order to promote this rich heritage, an interpretive trail, accompanied by a permanent exhibition at the information office of the Grand Périgueux Tourist Office in Sainte-Alvère, has been created and introduces the general public to the discovery of the " black Diamond ".
