Free and open to all , the Voie Verte Grand Périgueux has everything to please families looking for a fun and easily accessible activity . Fully paved, it can be used on foot, by stroller, by bike, rollerblades, scooters or even skateboards if children want to ride in front of their parents in complete safety on a marked road. A perfect hike for families between Marsac and Trélissac

Put on your shoes and go for a walk, everything is planned on the circuit to ensure that your day is pleasant and hassle-free. Need a bathroom break? Sanitary facilities are installed on the path at Bassin, in Sainte-Claire, in Boulazac and in Trélissac. And if the 30 km of hiking scares you, you can take a shuttle or the train to return without traveling the entire Grand Périgueux Greenway. Regular departures drop you off in Marsac, Périgueux or Boulazac, ideal for preparing your itinerary without stress . A large car park at Niversac station allows you to leave your car and go for a walk. Are you in Trélissac? Have a well-deserved coffee at Guinguette Café Rivière , an unmissable address located in a listed monument.

Rest assured, the idea is not to make you sweat for 30 km, but rather to combine business with pleasure by combining hiking and heritage. On the way, you discover the small Saint Saturnin church at the start of Marsac, a modest monument from the 11th or 12th century with its square bell tower. Further on, Périgueux welcomes you with its Sainte Front cathedral, its Gallo-Roman route and its military museum for the curious who like cultural visits. Continue your journey to Boulazac and its Château Lieu Dieu, a magnificent private property which cannot be visited, surrounded by a moat with a drawbridge. Finally in Trélissac, you see Château Magne , a historic monument built in a vast park restored as a home to rent for certain privileged people. Open your eyes wide, the walk promises to be rich and varied.

from marsac to niversac, ideas to go further

Walking along the Isle River for around thirty kilometers is already a beautiful hike punctuated with magnificent natural panoramas to observe. But if you like walking, there are other possibilities to extend the family outing:

  • In Périgueux , 7 km of cycle paths allow you to cross the city and visit historical monuments,
  • Exit Périgueux towards Marsac, take the Campniac ferry independently to cross the river and travel through the countryside to Coulounieix-Chamiers,
  • From the Voie Verte Grand Périgueux, join the Véloroute which links Périgord and Gironde over 86 km.

It's up to you, all you have to do is plan your outing and decide on your route.
