Trélissac: Nature hikes

Total change of scenery guaranteed! A few tens of meters from the large shopping centers of Boulazac and Trélissac, is a small natural paradise, for playing sports with routes specially dedicated to Nordic walking. Follow the CRAPA hiking trails in Trélissac for a nature walk before or after the races, at any time of the year, just a few minutes from Périgueux!

The ancestors of fitness trails

The CRAPA (Circuit Rustique d'Activité Physique Aménagé) is quite simply the new version of the fitness trail. Arranged in peri-urban areas, they are accessible to all levels, all tastes, all availability... it is an opportunity to take advantage of a forest environment very quickly accessible from the city. The Périgord has no shortage of paths and trails, that's for sure! But when you're on vacation or living in the city, how can you enjoy a green bubble of oxygen without driving for 30 minutes? Direction Trélissac, just next to the Firmin Daudou stadium in the national forest of Lanmary. There are over 2000 such courses in France, so grab the sneakers and go for the sport!

Several hiking trails of 5 to 20 kilometers are arranged in Trelissac, that is to say marked out so as not to get lost. There are the classic walking or hiking routes, some are equipped with outdoor sports exercise equipment, for weight training or Streetworkout (as they say!). Preparation for a trail? Want to move and build muscle? Need nature? There is everything you need, it's free and open all year round. Park in the Stade Firmin Daudou car park, on the left along rue Anatole France. You will see a sign there with the trail markings, I recommend that you take a picture of it so that you can find your way around once there. The routes are looped, there are 4 main ones: The Puyconteau, Fontaines, Lauterie, Caussade loop. You can mix routes to lengthen mileage or duration for example. A significant pleasure, these paths also allow you to enjoy beautiful landscapes and local points of interest, castles, fountains, beautiful buildings, quiet neighborhoods, undergrowth...

Hiking in Trélissac

We set off for a 5 kilometer loop (next time we'll do more for sure!). It is very surprising to leave shopping centers, drive 2, 3 minutes before parking (for free) in a fairly busy area, then get out of the vehicle and 3 minutes later, be in the middle of nature! Go up the street towards the Ibis hotel and suddenly: more tar, than paths, trees, trail signs, the real forest! We took the loop that begins that of Puyconteau to then return to the stadium, it is a "tour of the hill". When we arrived, the Nordic Walking in Périgord was present for a Nordic walking outing. There is also the Sport Club of Trelissac which organizes hikes. It is a very friendly place!

Before leaving, take water and something to protect yourself from the sun in summer, because although the paths are mostly shaded, there are clearances that quickly rise in temperature. We were hot on this beautiful autumn afternoon. We advance in the woods, to a superb point of view on the Château Magne, a private residence on the edge of the Voie Verte of the banks of the Isle.

Then we alternate between pine forests, deciduous woods, damp undergrowth and well-cleared plateaus. On the way, there are sports approved, for those who wish to maintain their physical condition.

We walk along the crest of the hill and sometimes, a surprising view is revealed on the department stores below, we are really close to the city! The intersections are all well marked, impossible to get lost. We passed a few people walking, a sports club in addition to Nordic walking hikers. Back in our vehicle, we were very satisfied with this improvised sports moment, it is a place to know when you live in the region and a pleasant place to discover if you are on vacation around Périgueux. Note that the CRAPA loop we made is perfect for small children!
