    • The Sainte-Alvère region, a historic stronghold of the Lostanges, constitutes the western tip of the Périgord Noir. It is a very hilly region whose most calcareous hillsides are the domain of the truffle. Until around the 1960s, the region was a major producer of truffles. For nearly 30 years, the Sainte-Alvère market has offered its many buyers a quality truffle controlled by quality commissioners.

In order to promote this rich heritage, an interpretation trail, accompanied by a permanent exhibition at the Sainte-Alvère tourist office, has been created and introduces the general public to the discovery of the "black diamond".

Beautiful village. In recent years, a great effort has been made to mark hiking trails. This year, I had the opportunity to see a Baroque musical performance in the park; it was truly delightful.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover the Cendrieux cultural center during the live broadcast of "Florencia en el amazonas" from the Metropolitan Opera. The building is undeniably a beautiful and surprising addition to the charming little village of Cendrieux. Perhaps a bit oversized, even though it serves multiple communities... But ultimately, we can applaud such a cultural endeavor. However, I find it deplorable to have to endure such a malfunction in the broadcast equipment, which deprived us of the end of the opera, no less! This is all the more regrettable as it seems to be the third breakdown, ruining our passion for opera. Under these circumstances, it is neither serious nor honest to see the organizers, apart from the volunteers and staff, charging €50 for a couple while offering such a poor performance! We weren't even consoled by a tasty dinner break featuring a buffet of local produce; the food was dreadful and unlocal. But no! That was another fiasco, a mockery indeed! Unless the decision-makers are receiving better fare? I sincerely hope so... Two final suggestions: offer a discount for the next screening instead of a glass of champagne, which is both frivolous and dangerous on our narrow country roads, and finally, secure the services of a qualified technician who can ensure the proper functioning of such specialized equipment. In short, provide the necessary resources without taking advantage of the audience.
