Pays de Bergerac tourisme - Bureau d'Information Touristique de Cadouin Stay between Bergerac and Sarlat

On the border between the Périgord Pourpre and the Périgord Noir, the village of Cadouin, nestled around its abbey, is a true haven of peace in the heart of the Béssède forest. Cadouin is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an essential stop on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago).

Founded in 1115 by Géraud de Salles and affiliated with the Cistercian order in 1119, Cadouin Abbey impresses with the richness of its architecture. The Romanesque church and the flamboyant Gothic cloister, rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, offer a striking contrast, bearing witness to the centuries of history that have shaped this emblematic site in southern Périgord.

Around the medieval market hall, the charm of Cadouin works its magic : stroll through the narrow streets, sit down on a terrace to savor the local cuisine or participate in a convivial moment during a concert.

Numerous activities invite you to extend your stay: go hiking on the Pilgrims' Loop, or have fun with the family on the Terra Aventura trail. Cadouin is also a stop on the Amadour Way.

• January : Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.;
• February to June : Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 12:30pm and from 2:00pm to 5:30pm;
• July and August : Monday to Sunday from 9:00am to 1:00pm and from 2:00pm to 6:00pm;
• September, October : Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.;
• November and December : Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
