The Dronne flows through Brantôme in a verdant setting, where medieval bridges, limestone cliffs and wooded banks follow one another. Appreciated for its clarity and gentleness, it was described as "the most beautiful river in France" by the geographer Élisée Reclus. Calm and winding, it is particularly suitable for canoeing and exploring the river landscapes of the Périgord Vert. The boats glide peacefully under the foliage, passing troglodyte abbeys, mills and natural cliffs.
