    • The Gabarres de Bergerac, an unusual stroll along the water on the Dordogne

In the heart of the town of Bergerac, on the quays of La Salvette or departing from Creysse, make yourself comfortable in a barge for an unusual experience on the Dordogne river. With its team of guides and captains-gabarriers, the trip with the Gabarres de Bergerac is pleasant and exciting.

Les Gabarres de Bergerac, an unusual boat to discover in the purple Périgord

With its flat bottom, the barge circulates without difficulty in all circumstances. Whether the water is shallow or the load heavy, this particular boat, originally used for freight transport since Gallo-Roman times, moves with ease. Discover the natural ecosystem of the Dordogne, one of the cleanest rivers in France (Biosphere Reserve by Unesco), and admire the flourishing nature that surrounds you. Fauna, flora, stone buildings, charming villages, mills and cluzeaux

, the region of Bergerac is rich in an interesting cultural heritage to discover in an unusual way. Family and warm, the team will tell you the story of the Dordogne during a stroll in the calm of the water. When the weather is nice, end your excursion with a wine tasting at Vins de Bergerac Duras.

The Gabarres de Bergerac, adapted circuits on the Dordogne

The history of shipping and the great historical facts of the old town will be told to you on circuits of 50 minutes, 1h30 or 3h30 depending on the route selected. Between April and October, take the road to Bergerac and let yourself be guided on cruises departing from the port of Bergerac

at the Quai de la Salvette. Groups are welcome on one of the two 55-seater barges, for a bucolic and unusual outing with friends or family. At the end of the day, admire the sunset which is reflected on the Dordogne, mixing warm colors and shades of green. Open every day during the season, you can even book a boat to organize a private event. Float, sail, enjoy on the Gabarres de Bergerac.

Pleasant walk and commentary. But a little expensive for my taste.

It looked great, but unfortunately, a group of travelers came with a 2 or 3 year old child and he cried for almost the entire trip. It was hellish, we couldn't hear what the commentator was saying. What a great idea to go somewhere with such a young child knowing that we'll be stuck there if there's a crisis. At the cinema, you can go out. Not here... It's really thoughtless behavior. In any case, prohibiting access to the barges to children under 5 years old would prevent others from having to suffer the carelessness (and recklessness?) of irresponsible parents (a baby in the middle of the water, what an idea...)

Nothing against the staff, but the boat ride...no tourist trap
