Unique in its oriental plan with a Greek cross similar to St Mark's in Venice , whose center and each branch are surmounted by a dome. Restored in the 19th century by Abadie who used it as a model for the construction of the Sacred Heart in Montmartre.

The 12th century bell tower separates the old Latin church from the Byzantine-inspired basilica. Inside, a magnificent baroque altarpiece and the chandelier which saw the marriage of Napoleon III with Eugénie de Montjo at Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.

The cathedral is open to the public every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (7 p.m. in summer), a paid visit support is available inside. Beautifully and interesting architectural for this cathedral. I love the structure and the look of the cathedral outside more than inside. Amazingly calculated designed. These buildings are located in the centre of Périgueux and Saint Front Cathedral has been classed as a French Historical Monument (monument historique) since 1840. The sight is impressive upon arriving into town. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Périgueux.
