Discover the rural soul of the Périgord Pourpre at La Ferme du Roussel
In Rampieux, the Ferme du Roussel is more than just a farm. It's an open-air history book where, for ten generations, the epic story of a family passionate about their land has been unfolding. This GAEC (Groupement Agricole d'Exploitation en Commun - a type of agricultural cooperative) embodies the renewal of respectful farming, brilliantly blending ancestral traditions and sustainable innovations in the heart of the Périgord region.
A living repository of local breeds and forgotten cultures
La Ferme du Roussel stands out for its commitment to biodiversity. Here, Gascon pork and Bordeaux veal —rustic breeds with incomparable flavor—flourish in a protected environment. But the sensory journey doesn't end with livestock. The family also cultivates a surprising array of plants: heritage fruit varieties and walnuts, the region's true black gold.
This diversity is reflected in a range of exceptional products, carefully crafted using traditional methods:
- The table and the pantry: characterful cured meats, artisanal charcuterie, tasty prepared dishes and fragrant walnut oil.
- Natural well-being: a line of handcrafted soaps, highlighting the virtues of farm produce.
A place for living and sharing
More than just a shop, the farm is a destination. During the summer months (June 15th to September 30th), the shop is open Tuesday and Friday mornings. The rest of the year, these artisans of the land welcome you by appointment to share their daily life.
The friendly atmosphere reaches its peak during special events like Spring at the Farm, where a concert adds rhythm to farm life, with food available on site, or another convivial occasion: a dinner with a farmers' market in August. On-site, a small grocery store also offers a carefully curated selection of local specialties and a bread depot, perfect for putting together a truly Périgord picnic.
For those unable to visit Rampieux, the excellence of Roussel products is available internationally. You can find their gourmet delights in several producers' shops or via the Pourdebon platform, guaranteeing the freshness of locally sourced products delivered directly to your door.
