    • LA CHANTERACOISE is considered, to this day, as the last artisanal biscuit factory in France. Historically located in the heart of the Périgord Blanc, in the small village of Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, it produces a wide range of rusks, toasts and croutons, and has managed to preserve the true authentic know-how of the rusks of the 1950s. Its attention to the origin and quality of the raw materials used in the manufacture of its products contributes to its desire to distribute exclusively in delicatessens, cooperative businesses and organic stores.

Its story begins in Périgueux in the 1950s with a young apprentice baker. Passionate, he won the trust of his employer, a brioche specialist who entrusted him with his recipe for rusks that were very popular locally.

After a few years spent improving, the boy finally feels ready and takes over a bakery in Saint-Germain-du-Salembre in the Périgord Blanc. He produces wood-fired bread and of course authentic rusks...

The latter quickly met with great success that went beyond the borders of the village, so much so that the baker moved into a barn to found his biscuit factory there: La Chanteracoise, named in honor of Chantérac, his native village.

In 2005, at the time of taking a well-deserved retirement, he met Sylvain BOUCHER: "a meeting of rare authenticity" confides the one who thus allowed the history of La Chanteracoise to continue to be written.

For more than 15 years, the authentic and gourmet ranges have continued to develop without departing from the core business, with organic production representing 50% of the activity.

Our shops welcome you every day of the week from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You will discover the fabulous history of French biscuits, the history of La Chanteracoise, the manufacturing secrets of our delicious biscuits thanks to a breathtaking view of the workshops.

At the end of the visit, a tasting of the creations of the house will be offered to you, for the greatest pleasure of the taste buds.

Delicious !! Best fresh pain de mie I’ve ever had, and the biscottes are soooo tasty ! Great choice of products, reasonable prices, and a great looking boutique ! Love that you get to see the factory and how the products are made. The fact that it’s the last artisan biscotte factory makes it extra special as I love supporting and buying local

These biscottes taste so much better than the ones from the supermarket! A small family business, with everything made fresh on site. If you aren't near the factory, quite a few local businesses sell their stuff. So keep an eye out.
