The Maison de la Dronne, to stroll and learn more about this Lympid river

The Dronne is a river that flows in Périgord Vert . Fresh, clear and bucolic, it passes through charming villages , some very well known like Brantôme or Bourdeilles and others more confidential like Montagrier . We recommend that you come visit and enjoy the natural environment of La Maison de la Dronne, which is a mill-museum to see exhibitions and why not, take a boat trip ! Here we go ?

The Maison de la Dronne, in Montagrier

Go to Montagrier , but before visiting the village, let's take a break on the banks of the Dronne. Parking is free and easy to find. La Maison de la Dronne is located in an old mill dating from the ^12th century. Flour mill, sometimes for splitting wood and even for electricity, hydraulic-powered mills were common on rivers during the Middle Ages. If you like industrial heritage like this, you will enjoy seeing its big paddle wheel and turbines in operation.

On site, during the summer months, activities for the whole family ! Inside the mill, exhibitions. And on the water, the possibility of taking great trips in electric boats on the Dronne. 2 hours of peace and quiet at your own pace, swimming, sunbathing, strolling along the banks... The site is open from May to September and is closed on Tuesdays.

All around the mill, you can walk and swim in the Dronne, which is particularly refreshing. The locals know it and families are set up with picnics and inflatable buoys, do the same (don't forget to leave the place spotless when you leave). There is a no-kill fishing route. In the river you will find barbel, carp, chub, roach, perch, minnows... But also black bass, pike and zander according to the legislation in force and with a fishing license.

A Tèrra Aventura course is available on the site, one more reason to come with the children! Walk around the grassy area where it is possible to pitch a tent and read the interpretation panels on the trees present.
