    • A GOURMET SIGNATURE FROM PÉRIGORD: LA CHANTERACOISE, FRANCE'S LAST ARTISAN BISCOTTERIE

      Emblematic local artisanal products

      Located in Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, La Chanteracoise is today the last artisanal biscotterie in France. But beyond rusks, this company embodies a true gastronomic reference in Périgord, offering a wide range of gourmet products : aperitif toasts, organic croutons, palets, shortbread, crunchy biscuits, and many other specialties.

      Thanks to know-how passed down since the 1950s, each product is made with quality ingredients, mostly from local sources, and according to preserved artisanal processes. Crispness, lightness and authenticity are the key words of this house with its unique charm.

      Know-how passed on and preserved

      The story of La Chanteracoise began in the 1950s, when Jean-Pierre Pommier, a young and passionate apprentice baker, was given the recipe for his traditional rusks by his employer. After taking over a bakery in Saint-Germain-du-Salembre in 1960, he offered wood-fired bread and authentic rusks, which quickly became acclaimed for their flavor.

      In 1980, his growing success led him to found the biscotterie La Chanteracoise, named in homage to his native village of Chantérac. Production was then set up in an old barn, with a single aim: to perpetuate artisanal production, far from industrial standards.

      A vibrant and committed company

      In 2005, Sylvain Boucher took over the company with the aim of perpetuating this artisanal heritage. In 2017, the range was expanded with biscuit recipes such as palets and croquants, while developing an organic activity which now represents 50% of production.

      La Chanteracoise continues its development with dynamism, without ever betraying its roots. To this day, it remains a flagship of Périgord food craftsmanship, combining know-how, taste, transmission and respect for traditions.

      Authentic recipes for all tastes

      Today, La Chanteracoise offers much more than rusks!
      Its range of artisanal products meets all desires:

      • Conventional, organic and delicious rusks, for breakfasts with authentic flavors;
      • Organic croutons, perfect for enhancing salads and soups;
      • Conventional and organic toasts, for aperitifs;
      • Sweet biscuits : crunchy, rounds, shortbread and crispy hazelnut;

      The commitment to quality is constant: 100% French wheat, rigorously selected ingredients, absence of preservatives, numerous manual production stages, including molding, placing on a grid, bagging, etc.

      A place of discovery open to all

      In addition to the shops located in Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, visitors can discover the world of biscuits through a unique visitor space : La Biscothèque.

      This new space, on the Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle site, offers an immersion in the history of rusk and that of Chanteracoise, behind the scenes of artisanal production, unpublished archives, a play area for children, and even the screening of the film "The Saga of the Biscotte". Tours are free, self-guided or guided, with a tasting offered at the end of the tour. Reservations are required for groups of more than 10 people.

      An essential address for gourmets in Périgord

      With its authentic and tasty products, La Chanteracoise perfectly embodies the richness of the Périgord region. It will delight lovers of local specialties, those curious about gourmet heritage, and all those who appreciate good artisanal products.

      Visit the shops in Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre to discover and taste these exceptional Périgord products!

    Excellent traditional rusks with a nice variety of other flavors: chocolate, praline, and cereal. Made on-site using time-honored methods (except for the addition of coconut oil). The visit is pleasant, but only to the showroom, as the production workshops are closed for hygiene reasons. Tastings are available. There's also a lovely shop selling regional products. Free parking.
