    • It is in the heart of the Monbazillac terroir, on a hill overlooking the banks of the Dordogne and the historic city of Bergerac, that the wines of Château Grande Maison have been produced for decades, exceptional organic wines.

The estate was taken over in 2012 by Jean-Louis and Benjamin Chabrol. With a continued focus on quality, all production is subject to the rules of organic farming, supplemented by the biodynamic method, which allows our wines to express their full character and the best of this terroir.

EXCEPTIONAL ORGANIC WINES FROM BERGERAC AND MONBAZILLAC

      Vineyard: 14 hectares

It is in the heart of the Monbazillac terroir, on a hill overlooking the banks of the Dordogne and the historic town of Bergerac, that the wines of Château Grande Maison have been produced for decades – exceptional organic wines. This former 13th-century fortified house benefits from a unique environment:

      • The general exposure is due south and all the plots are on more or less steep slopes.
      • Its pond at the heart of the estate is an exceptional asset for promoting botrytis, the fungus that gives Monbazillac its unique character and richness.
      • Clay-limestone soil with an outcrop of silica allowing the white wines to have a certain freshness.

With a constant focus on quality, all production adheres to organic farming practices, complemented by biodynamic methods, allowing our wines to fully express their character and the best of this terroir. Of the estate's 14 hectares of vineyards, 10 are planted with white grape varieties (60% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Muscadelle) and 4 with red grape varieties (90% Merlot, Cabernet Franc).

The grapes are harvested manually with several successive sorting processes for the Monbazillac wines. The wines are aged partly in stainless steel tanks and mainly in new barrels.

A lovely 13th-century residence welcomes you every day except Sunday to taste our wines in the pure tradition and share our know-how with you: from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

For a more in-depth understanding of our field, I invite you to visit our website.

Wines: Monbazillac, Bergerac red, Bergerac white, Côte de Bergerac red and Bergerac Rosé.

Château Grande Maison opens the doors of its new hall, which can be used for workshops or tasting dinners, private parties and corporate meals, intimate weddings, and more, according to your wishes.

Please book now so we can best organize your event. A list of bed and breakfasts and hotels near the castle will be provided when you book the venue.

Very well advised and very high quality wines. I find them better than those from the Château de Monbazillac.
