The Verdots Vineyard, a living space developed in Bergerac

Wine is not only the expression of a terroir, it is also the reflection of a heritage passed down through generations. The Verdots Vineyard is now a true place of life, offering much more than just the tasting of carefully crafted, elegant, and fruity wines.

• Discover the Maison Wessman Restaurant by Thierry Marx, a bistro offering local and seasonal cuisine.
• Indulge yourself at the Maison Wessman Tea Room by Thierry Marx for pastries and a traditional Afternoon Tea in the afternoon.

The Boutique (open 7 days a week) offers tastings and sales of all Maison Wessman wines. A wine bar is also available in the cellar area and on the terrace during the summer months.

For wine tourism, the program is centered on the terroir and methods of the Verdots Vineyard, while also allowing the discovery of the other appellations of Maison Wessman.

• Tasting tours adapted to all levels are offered, as well as visits for small and large groups.
• Collaborative experiences with the restaurant (food & wine pairings, tasting menus) are organized.
• VIP tastings are available in the private room Le Paradis in the Underground Cellar.

The Verdots Vineyard: modern facilities for quality wines

Travel along the country roads and look up to admire the magnificent estate rising above the vineyards. From purple to green, passing through the shimmering colors of autumn, it offers a unique landscape at every time of year. Several buildings at Vignoble des Verdots are open to visitors, allowing them to appreciate the refined work of the passionate men and women who work on the property.

The underground cellar

This little gem carved into the rock is almost invisible if you don't know where it is. Nestled beneath your feet, the underground cellar reveals 600 square meters dedicated to housing 200 barrels for aging, maturing, and storing wine. Take a moment to admire the aging barrels crafted by five passionate coopers— magnificent wooden vessels that safeguard the wine and impart its character and typicity.

The winery

An essential element in the production of the great wines of Bergerac and Monbazillac, the winery is a privileged space to admire the work of the fruit. The grapes and bunches arrive on a conveyor belt before being vinified in truncated conical vats, modern facilities ensuring preserved quality.

The Verdots vineyard: essential steps to follow

Vineyard work is a passion shared by every member of the Vignoble des Verdots team who carefully tend to the 66 hectares of grapes, spread over 3 terroirs with the AOP Bergerac, AOP Côtes-de-Bergerac, and AOP Monbazillac wines.

• Initially, the grape harvest occupies all their time, gathering the grapes of the red and white varieties. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec for the reds, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle for the whites.
• The fruit then arrives at the winery where it will be vinified, while gravity naturally performs the punch-down process.
• It continues its journey in the underground cellar where 3 rackings are carried out during the aging process.
• The next steps, carried out on the property, are blending, filtering and bottling.
• Arranged on galvanized steel pallets of 600 bottles, the wine returns to the cellar to be stored in optimal conditions, aging quietly in unique barrels for each vintage.

With love and care, the entire team at Vignoble des Verdots tends the soil and vines, driven by a desire to preserve the richness of this unique terroir. A thorough soil study was conducted in 1998 to ensure meticulous work in harmony with the environment, resulting in wines with unique, subtle, and complex aromas. More than just a commitment, this represents a genuine environmental approach implemented through a viticultural and forestry policy and the achievement of High Environmental Value (HVE3) certification.

The Verdots Vineyards: Exceptional wines to taste

After the tour, head to the cellar to discover your favorite wine gem. The estate produces three ranges of wine, each with its own character and unique features:

• Originel des Verdots, the signature range of the vineyard between the rich and fruity red Bergerac, the aromatic and fruity dry Bergerac, the sweet and rich rosé Bergerac and the generous and sweet Bacchus moelleux.
• The Tours des Verdots, with their subtle blend, offer a complex and elegant dry Bergerac, a rich and peppery red Côtes de Bergerac, and a smooth and fragrant Monbazillac.
• Grand Vin “Les Verdots” are age-worthy wines that uniquely express this exceptional terroir. You will find the powerful Côtes de Bergerac red with roasted notes, the elegant and aromatic dry Bergerac, and the Monbazillac with complex and luscious aromas of candied fruit.

• The Second Cottage with Swimming Pool: A second accommodation is also available, ideal for small groups with a maximum capacity of 5 people (adults, children and babies included) and benefiting from a private swimming pool.
