About

  • English
    • In the heart of a vast valley where the Banège flows, very close to Bergerac, in the Périgord Pourpre, discover Issigeac and its maze of small streets, each as typical as the next.
Issigeac curiously escapes the rigor of the usual plan of bastides in the region, visit the Gothic church on the central square of the village, built by Armand de Gontaut-Biron, bishop of Sarlat, who liked to come here to take a rest far from the agitation of the Sarladais and its "capital".
Also worth discovering is the bishops' castle built by François de Salignac (Fénelon's uncle) during the 17th century.
