Sigoulès Towns, Villages and bastides in Sigoulès

Sigoulès is known for its historical heritage, its rolling landscapes and its proximity to numerous vineyards.

A bit of history

Formerly, Sigoulès was the capital of a canton in the heart of the Bergerac vineyard. Its Saint-Jacques church is a true jewel of Romanesque architecture.

The commune merged with Flaugeac in 2016 to form Sigoulès-et-Flaugeac, but Sigoulès retains all its old-world charm and authenticity.

What to do and see in Sigoulès?

• Visit its Romanesque church : a must ! Its sober and elegant architecture bears witness to the rich past of the Périgord region.
• Admire the landscapes : Sigoulès is surrounded by green hills and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Many hiking trails allow you to discover these magnificent panoramas.
• Stroll through the vineyards : Périgord is famous for its wines, especially those of Monbazillac. Some wine estates offer tours and tastings (in moderation of course!).
• Explore the bastides, fortified towns built in the Middle Ages. Near Sigoulès, find Monpazier or Beaumont-du-Périgord.
• Explore the region’s castles : Périgord is home to many castles, some of which are open to the public. The Château de la Bridoire is an example just a few kilometres from Sigoulès.
