      POMPORT held in the Middle Ages the military seat of the Lordship of BERGERAC; on its territory stood the fortress of Montcuq, which had a leading role during the Hundred Years War, whose first battle in Périgord is commemorated by a stele erected at the instigation of Colonel BRUNET
