    • Monbazillac Castle: An immersive journey through an incredible cultural heritage in the Dordogne

The sheer beauty of the place is what first captivates you when you see the magnificent Château de Monbazillac overlooking the Bergerac valley. Just 10 minutes from this town, renowned for its sweet wine, you can discover a unique tourist site with a dynamic and engaging experience. Open your eyes wide and be prepared; the visit to Château de Monbazillac is unexpected and fascinating.

Monbazillac Castle, a place of history and passion to explore near Bergerac

The tour is divided into four sections : historical, artistic, playful, and oenological. Discover the history of the Château de Monbazillac, a listed historical monument, through two exhibitions that recount its past from the Wars of Religion to the Renaissance. Built in the 16th century, it was the home of the Bataclan family after several dramatic events, presented in five fully interactive rooms. Let yourself be guided by videos, audio presentations, projections, light shows, and puzzles to discover a museum that reveals its rich history using new technologies. The visit continues in the 300m² museum space, ideal for immersing yourself in the work of the winemakers.

Monbazillac Castle offers a variety of activities to immerse yourself in the world of wine in Monbazillac.

Monbazillac evokes the promise of a fine, sweet, and aromatic wine to savor. You won't be disappointed, as three tasting areas are available at Château de Monbazillac. The guided tasting at the Pavillon des Arômes (Aroma Pavilion) is led by a sommelier offering expert advice, while the Pavillon Brizay restaurant features the Euphonie wine range in red, white, rosé, dry, medium, and sweet styles to delight your palate with a quality beverage. Take home a few bottles after visiting the shop, which also offers local products such as biscuits, chocolates, oils, and honeys from the region.

Take the time to admire the scenery before heading back; the view is breathtaking over the Bergerac valley, a panorama between land and sea where the vines change color with the seasons for a memorable souvenir of the Château de Monbazillac.

The staff were very pleasant from start to finish. The tour price was very reasonable considering what was included. The shop offered a wide selection. Highly recommended.

This place is fantastic to learn about wine making. That skill is oriented in a very accessible way in the exposition centre. 40 wine growers in the region formed a cooperative decades ago, present their skills but also own the castle itself. A very nice place and I learned more about grape growing and harvesting, and wine making, than ever before
