  A lived in chateau! It's an impressive building, created over two periods, leaving to an impressive combination of architecture. The inside is well decorated, and restored with original era furnishings. As it's still lived in, there are quite a few areas you can't visit, including the medieval tower, presumably because this is where the family lives, however the rest of the chateau is still worth a visit.

  This is a laugh total ruin needs to be pulled down ASAP Expensive to visit not even a decent garden anywhere around the outside. Inside there was a few sticks of furniture and lots of dust and cobwebs I would not recommend!!

  What an incredibly beautiful Castle and how romantic. There are only a few rooms - with four poster beds and 20 foot high ceilings. You feel that you are stepping back into the middle ages. You are treated by the owner as if you too were a member of the aristocracy or royalty. Truly an unforgettable experience. Not only that but there is a water park within short walking distance including archery. The countryside is incredible - whole villages that step right out of the middle ages.Those who have read or seen Michael Crichton's Timeline will be interested in seeing Castelnaud (Castelgard in the book) nearby. The wine in the region is also very good. Older and better than Bordeaux. A stay at Chateau de Lanquais is a must for those who want to experience the period.
