Hugon Castle Reflections of traditional know-how in Bergerac

Château Hugon, located at the top of the "pech" (the hill), practically at the gates of Bergerac, is a tiny estate of barely more than 4 hectares. The Cousy family has cultivated these vines for several generations, but the real revival dates from the early 1990s.

In 2007, Sébastien Cousy took over the estate, still supported by his father Bernard, with the firm intention of positioning it at the highest level of the appellation. The progress and questioning of established practices in both the vineyard and the cellar have proven beneficial. This is why their 2009 vintage deserves special mention.

Here, the fleshy and juicy Merlot grape is complemented by robust Cabernet Sauvignon, while a touch of Malbec provides structure. The whole is beautifully extracted from the heart and then aged, smoothed, and refined with care in fine oak for a year.

Supported by a beautiful velvety, finely oaked structure, this wine will stand up without flinching to meats in sauce, duck in many forms, game such as hare, wild boar, stewed or roast lamb, cheeses such as aged Cantal or Saint-Nectaire...

• When and how should it be showcased?

Its composition will allow it to age gracefully for about ten years. Decanting it for half an hour beforehand will be beneficial. Serve at around 17°C.
