About

    • History of Château La Renaudie:

Château La Renaudie is a 35-hectare vineyard located in the heart of the Pécharmant appellation. Its south-facing slopes offer a quality harvest. Pécharmant is an appellation of red wines with character, so our wines will perfectly accompany your regional dishes. The Way of Saint James of Compostela passes through the middle of our vineyard. We are also listed as a Grand Chemin de Randonnée.

Our vineyard was certified HVE 3 (High Environmental Value) in 2018.

      History of the Foucauld Family:

“Charles de Foucauld, what does this have to do with Château La Renaudie?”
The Foucauld family is one of the oldest "houses" in Périgord, where its traces can be traced back more than a thousand years, with a lineage traced back to 1119. Divided into several branches, one of which, the Foucauld de Malenbert, still exists in Dordogne. It was very present in Bergerac through its elder branch, the Foucauld Marquis de Lardimalie, owner of the Château de Bridoire until 1939, as well as through its younger branch, the Foucauld de Pombriand, who in 1912 bought the Château de La Renaudie located in the commune of LEMBAS, the historic seigneury of the Foucauld family. It is from this branch that Father Charles de Foucauld (1858 – 1916) comes. Having entered religion as a Trappist monk after a military career and then as an explorer of Morocco, Father de Foucauld is best known for his vocation as a hermit in Islamic lands and his search for a very modern "universal brotherhood." He spent several stays with his family in Bergerac at the Châteaux of Bridoire and La Renaudie.

Proclaimed blessed by the Catholic Church in 2005, Charles de Foucauld was canonized on May 15, 2022. To mark the occasion, Château La Renaudie has created special Charles de Foucauld back labels. You can find this Pécharmant Château La Renaudie Tradition 2019/2020 in the boutique (limited quantities).
