The Montponnais Territory, located to the west of the department, now has some 12,000 inhabitants spread over 9 municipalities grouped together within the Community of Communes Isle Double Landais. Bordering the Gironde, the territory is marked by a wooded and fluvial landscape. The Isle River offers a multitude of activities to try out with family or friends. It is the meeting place for fishermen, but also lovers of gentle roaming. Along the river, come and discover a barge: the traditional boat that takes visitors for more than an hour, so you will have a glimpse of the life of the barges of yesteryear, with the added bonus of passing through a manual lock. during the walk, unique in Périgord!

This calm river will surprise you with its beauty in the midst of unspoiled flora and fauna. Several canoe trips are offered from beginners to advanced.

La Vélo Route Voie Verte, a family route to be practiced on foot, by bike or rollerblading, will also allow you to contemplate the Isle which winds through the Valley. This linear alternates sections of green roads (on a separate site) and low traffic roads (on a shared site) over a hundred km.

The Double forest covers 50,000 ha and mainly occupies a large northern part of the territory. It offers many hiking possibilities thanks to marked paths, it will allow its visitors to observe a particular landscape made up of numerous ponds, hornbeams, oaks or chestnuts.

A visit to the Ferme du Parcot in Echourgnac will give you an idea of what life was like in the 19th century Double, a Tèrra aventura circuit (puzzle game) is also present on the site.

Montpon-Ménestérol, the capital of the canton of 5,500 inhabitants is nicknamed "Organ capital in Aquitaine" because the city has no less than ten instruments in perfect working order on 5 sites. Visits, performed and commented, are organized at specific times in order to showcase this heritage of undoubted value. Francis Chapelet, internationally renowned organist is at the origin. The Chandos Leisure Center is also located in Montpon and offers the possibility of strolling, picnicking or trying out the fitness trail.

In terms of gastronomy, the Montpellier area is not to be outdone since, for example, the village of Echourgnac is home to a Cistercian abbey where a delicious cheese is matured: Trappe Echourgnac.

The smallest town in the area, St Sauveur Lalande is known for a good number of producers: foie gras, strawberries, poultry, cattle ... its remarkable church is the only one in the department to have the particularity of being made of half-timbered exposed wood.

Another original feature for gourmets: the ice creams from the Farm in St Martial d'Artenset: the ice creams and sorbets are made on the farm from milk produced on site and fresh fruit, let yourself be tempted!

Restaurants for you to feast on and some forty accommodation addresses will allow you to have an ideal stay in a preserved natural setting.
