    • RO.BO RESTAURANT IN MONTIGNAC-LASCAUX IN THE PÉRIGORD NOIR REGION

The RO.BO restaurant in Montignac-Lascaux offers modern cuisine inspired by the Périgord Noir, led by Michelin-starred chef Nick Honeyman.

A contemporary restaurant in a historic setting
The RO.BO restaurant is located within the Hôtel de Bouilhac, a 17th-century private mansion listed as a historical monument, in the heart of Montignac-Lascaux. This restaurant showcases contemporary cuisine where local Périgord Noir products take center stage. In a setting that blends ancient stone with modern furnishings, diners discover a gastronomic experience deeply rooted in the vibrant culinary scene of the Vézère Valley.

A chef with a Michelin star

At the helm of the RO.BO restaurant, chef Nick Honeyman brings his international experience and deep connection to French cuisine. Originally from Australia and trained in French cooking, he earned a Michelin star with his other restaurant, Le Petit Léon, located in Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, about ten kilometers from Montignac. This distinction testifies to his exacting standards and creativity, which he also brings to RO.BO by designing contemporary menus inspired by local produce.

A modern cuisine inspired by local produce

RO.BO 's dishes reflect a balance between tradition and innovation. Products from the Périgord Noir region, such as truffles, walnuts, seasonal vegetables, and regional cheeses, are prepared with an inventive yet respectful approach. Each dish reveals a quest for flavor, where local ingredients are subtly reinterpreted. The menus, regularly updated, adapt to the seasons and showcase local producers.

      Lunch and dinner menus

The RO.BO restaurant offers tasting menus that vary depending on the time of day. Multi-course lunches and gourmet dinners allow guests to explore different culinary worlds. The creations highlight combinations of land and sea, traditional products and more distant inspirations, to offer a contemporary interpretation of Périgord Noir cuisine.

Food and wine pairing at the heart of the experience

Sina Honeyman, an experienced sommelier, pairs each menu with a carefully selected wine. The cellar features wines from Southwest France, as well as other French regions and a few international discoveries. The pairings are designed to enhance each dish and enrich the dining experience.

A friendly bar open to all

The bar at the Hôtel de Bouilhac, part of the RO.BO restaurant, is open from late afternoon. More than just an extension of the restaurant, it's a welcoming space open to everyone: residents of Montignac-Lascaux, travelers, groups of friends, and families. Cocktails, Périgord wines, and a variety of other drinks make up a menu that caters to a diverse clientele. The space is perfect for a relaxing break or a pre-dinner drink.

A culinary destination for all audiences

While RO.BO boasts the expertise of a Michelin-starred chef, it maintains an accessible and welcoming atmosphere. Couples on holiday, families, food enthusiasts, or simply visitors curious to discover contemporary local cuisine will find it a perfect place. The restaurant and bar are designed as open spaces where fine dining goes hand in hand with sharing.

Discover the Black Périgord region around Montignac-Lascaux

A meal at the RO.BO restaurant can be combined with exploring the local treasures within a 30-kilometer radius. The Lascaux cave, UNESCO-listed prehistoric sites, and the villages of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, Les Eyzies, and Sarlat-la-Canéda offer a remarkable heritage. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hiking in the forest, canoeing on the Vézère River, and visiting farmers' markets. Local produce, rivers, and rolling landscapes define the identity of the Périgord Noir.

Fine dining in an otherwise unremarkable (food-wise) village. Service very good, great wine list, and the food met all our expectations for quality. We will be going to their Michelin restaurant soon!

Real treat in the medieval town of Montignac. The hotel is in carefully restored castle from 17. Century. Big rooms, vaulted ceilings in the basement, rustic furniture are all part of the charm. Plus there are all amenities a guest could ask for. From effective heatong, inviting common rooms, swimmng pool and gym. The breakfast is delicious with all French treats. There is also a restaurant with probably the best food in town run by renowed chefs. My room was super spacious, bed comfortable and night quiet. I had even a big terrace with chairs, and tables. Location is super just a few steps from the old town. And free parking isvavailable for guests.

Hotel de Bouilhac is a beautiful, charming and historic hotel in a perfect location for exploring the sights in the Dordogne. The hotel's rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. The big bathtub is fantastic for relaxation. Breakfast was delicious and usually plentiful; however on one day of our stay, there was no more hot food available at 9 am. It seems someone had called in sick to work, yet the price for the breakfast was not adjusted for us which seemed odd. While the hotel is well kept for a historic building, one thing for travelers to note is to expect that you'll hear noise through the walls and the floors and street noise (motorbikes) at night. To be completely honest, as a mom of kids ages 4 and 6, I felt like I could not relax at Hotel de Bouilhac because even when my children walked in our room normally, they sounded like elephants. Our friends staying on the other side of the hotel got a complaint about noise from the room below them (albeit from noise occurring in daylight hours -- seems a bit over the top, but, some people don't understand that children will be children). Because we were traveling with that family, I also received a lecture from reception about child noise, even though they assured me that no one had complained about our room/my children. So, again, it was difficult to relax at this hotel as a result. I would not recommend this hotel to families with young children, but it is a lovely hotel for adults.

We had expected a great improvement since the Petit Leon owners took over. It certainly was better, but still not good enough for the price. There were a few Petit Leon signature touches - dots of...
