Pastels Girault Arts and Crafts in Montignac

• The Pastels Girault® brand,

Created in 1780, it is the oldest dry pastel brand in the world that has remained in business.
Located close to the International Center of Parietal Art (Lascaux 4), this craft is labeled by the state, EPV - Living Heritage Company which recognizes the excellence of French know-how. It is also certified OFG - Origine France Garantie which is today the only recognition that attests to the French origin with the customs service.

Recognized as a reference in the field of fine arts!

• The shop offers the 350 shades available today.

Samples are available to test the shades, texture and quality of the product.

Compositions are organized by theme such as portrait, landscape or parietal art!
Also organized by shades in variations of blues, greens, reds... light, dark...
And finally a large number are arranged by contemporary pastel painters.

But you can also create your own palette and choose your colors in detail.

Your dry pastels will be placed in a cardboard box or in wooden boxes made by a local carpenter.

• The manufacture is artisanal and family, the know-how has been transmitted from generation to generation for 2 and a half centuries. Today, a small team of 5 people works on this exceptional craft.
  

For us, the first pastel painters are the Cro-Magnons, they used clays and pigments like us to paint on walls or stones. So it is obvious to be installed in the same town as the famous cave, in Montignac-Lascaux at the origins of the art.

The production cannot be visited, but a video / photo space reveals a bit of it and there is always someone available to answer questions.

• The art gallery

The shop is completed by a magnificent gallery space which permanently offers pastel paintings allowing some to discover the different techniques of dry pastel, others to feast their eyes or to treat themselves to art.

• Pastel workshops
  

In order to complete the experience, several introductory or advanced courses are suggested every month.

Admission is free and parking is free.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. from March to December then

from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from June to September
