    • THE OPEN-AIR BAR OF TODAY IN CREYSSE, NEAR BERGERAC

An idyllic setting on the banks of the Dordogne

La Guinguette d'Aujourd'hui, located in Creysse near Bergerac, offers an enchanting setting on the banks of the Dordogne.

Nestled in the Périgord Pourpre region, this open-air café stands out for its warm atmosphere and exceptional location.

The restaurant boasts breathtaking views of the river, creating an ideal atmosphere for a convivial meal. Owners Bas and Lissy Holten have poured all their expertise into this unique establishment, where authenticity and friendliness blend harmoniously.

      Local cuisine and fresh produce

La Guinguette d'Aujourd'hui offers local cuisine highlighting fresh, seasonal produce.

Chef Bas Holten, drawing on his 20 years of experience at the helm of the gourmet restaurant at Château des Merles in Mouleydier, has created a menu that evolves daily. Working closely with local market gardeners and regional producers, he selects high-quality ingredients to create flavorful dishes.

The guinguette's menu offers a varied selection of dishes, including a three-course menu for 25 euros, showcasing the region's rich culinary heritage. Among the specialties are dishes such as smoked eel on a bed of radishes, carefully prepared by the chef.

Bas Holten is also committed to limiting waste by working with reduced stocks and preparing everything on site, thus guaranteeing the freshness of the dishes.

      A friendly and authentic atmosphere

The decoration of the Guinguette d'Aujourd'hui reflects the soul of the place.

Lissy Holten, in charge of the decor, sourced tableware from flea markets to create a unique and authentic atmosphere. The bucolic setting of the Riva Bella esplanade, where the open-air café is located, invites visitors to relax and indulge their senses.

The relaxed atmosphere, combined with a commitment to quality, makes this place a popular destination for lovers of good food and convivial moments.

      A responsible and committed cuisine

Chef Bas Holten is known for his commitment to responsible cuisine. He enjoys meeting his producers, farmers, and fishermen to learn about the origin of the products and understand their production methods.

This approach allows him to best respect the ingredients in cooking, while supporting local agriculture.

Among the chef's notable initiatives, he sometimes features catfish, a fish that is not widely appreciated but deserves to be showcased. This bold approach reflects his desire to diversify ingredients and offer innovative dishes.

Small local producers offer fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and wines from the Périgord Pourpre region, allowing visitors to experience authentic regional products.

For heritage enthusiasts, the region abounds with historical and cultural sites. Besides the very pleasant setting, the menu is limited (3 starters, 3 main courses, and 3 desserts), which results in superb cuisine made with fresh ingredients and inventive cooking. There's something for everyone. The service is extremely friendly.
