    • The Manor of Gisson, in the heart of Sarlat is listed as a historical monument. Its architecture is composed of two buildings of distinct architecture connected to each other by a hexagonal staircase tower, the origins of this monument date back to the 13th century: its noble tower, its mullioned windows, its lauze roofs, its very singular bay with columns topped with oculus and its facades flanked by decorated portals ennoble this building.

The vaulted cellars of the Manor house a strange Cabinet of Curiosities : Very fashionable among notables at the end of the Renaissance, they accumulate and exhibit collected objects with a certain taste for heterogeneity and the unseen. This place presents everything that the navigators and explorers of the 17th and 18th centuries returning from the limits of the unknown world, from these places absent from the maps, could bring back from their journeys; they thus exalted the imagination and curiosity. The cabinets of curiosities are the ancestor of museums. They played a fundamental role in the development of modern science even if they kept traces of the popular beliefs of the time.

The Consul's apartments : The second part of your visit will be devoted to discovering the everyday life of the Sarladaise nobility and in particular the Gisson family, they will be Consul, royal notary, knight of the Order of Saint-Louis, Captain of Dragons.
You will discover the magnificent ceremonial lounges, the high period furniture, the fireplaces, the woodwork and parquet floors in precious wood, the adobe floors, the spiral staircase and its large terrace overlooking the Place des Oies and the alleys. from the old town.
The restoration of each space has been the subject of great care, to faithfully reproduce the atmosphere and the daily life of the Sarlat nobility in the 17th century.
