The Château de la Hierce, a family heritage to visit in Brantôme

Located on the left bank of the Dronne, it is in Brantôme, nicknamed the Green Venice, that the Château de la Hierce can be visited. For more than a century, the Dumoulin de la Plante family has lived, maintained and bequeathed this magnificent castle built in the 16th century on a 1km long limestone cliff, punctuated with troglodyte shelters.

You will be able to meet the squire at the bend of a corridor since Patrick Dumoulin de la Plante still lives there, moving among a collection of old objects and furniture from the 13th century . In the kitchen, a family heritage is presented in the form of copper saucepans from the 18th to the 19th century, a true Perigord museum carefully preserved by Patrick Dumoulin de la Plante.

The large living room displays numerous stuffed animals, family porcelain dishes and typical Perigord objects, real works of art maintained on a daily basis by the owner of the place. Visiting the Château de la Hierce is like experiencing a pleasant return to Renaissance times.
