    • Bridoire, a castle that made headlines!

      In the heart of the Monbazillac vineyards, discover the incredible story of a castle that almost disappeared in the 20th century!

      Bridoire 's construction spanned from the late 12th to the 19th centuries. Inhabited by the de Foucauld family from 1806 to 1938, the castle was then sold. Bridoire subsequently became the scene of a political and media saga linked to Bokassa and gradually fell into disrepair in the 1980s. This was followed by 30 years of looting before the castle was expropriated and purchased by the Guyot family in 2011.

      In 2012, after major renovations, the castle opened its doors to the public for the first time.

      Bridoire is now saved and inhabited year-round by its owners.

      Today it is the most lively site in the Bergerac region with its 15 furnished rooms on 3 levels and its stables with horses and mini ponies.

      Bridoire is also home to The Castle of Games : 100 old-fashioned and giant games for all ages indoors and in the castle park (archery and crossbow shooting, skill and reflex games, giant chessboard, life-size game of goose, grass skiing, board games, etc.).

      In the summer, enjoy fast food in the castle courtyard to spend the day on the site!

      Activities in July and August : historical cooking demonstration with the making of hazelnut flour madeleines from Périgord, meeting with the Princess and introduction to sword fighting with the Knight of Bridoire.

      Optional: to extend the adventure, lose yourself in the labyrinths of the Mysterious Valley, two courses of challenges and puzzles in a natural and wild setting!

      • Duration of the route : 1h30-2h;
      • 2 routes to choose from;
      • Closed shoes required.

      Enchanting summer evenings await you at our Guinguettes! Join us on Tuesdays, July 22nd & 29th, and August 5th & 12th, 2026, to share a warm and welcoming moment with food, games, entertainment, and music, starting at 7:30 pm. Fireworks will close the evening.

    Really good day out with the kids with lots of medieval themed games in the castle grounds. There are the optional “Mysterious Valley” where you “will encounter mysteries, challenges and also a labyrinth, troglodyte ruins and ancient ruins.” This takes 1-3 hours and CLOSED SHOES ARE RECOMMENDED!

    What a wonderful place to visit with children. The castle is stunning and is being beautifully restored. Visiting châteaus can get a little tedious with young children but not here - everything and I...
