    • TWO CASTLES, ONE GREAT STORY

Built on a rocky outcrop, the Château de Bourdeilles brings together two exceptional buildings. A 13th century medieval fortress flanked by an impressive 32 meter high keep and an elegant Renaissance dwelling housing one of the richest furniture collections in Aquitaine. During the holidays, children can explore the castle accompanied by their puzzle book which will be given to them. During dramatized nighttime visits, wander the castle like privileged guests in a warm, humorous and unusual atmosphere.

Really boring it’s an empty lifeless place I wonder where the money of the entrance tickets goes ?? Also you will have to deal with 2 ridiculous staff employed at the desk look like there are there to annoy you ! And if you have a dog then forget about coming here they are not welcome ! Really disappointing place it’s a shame due to the history behind it , you better spend your money in the restaurant at the base of the chateaux you’ll have a better time !

We stopped by on our way to Perigueux and what a pleasant surprise this Chateau was. While we enjoyed the older part of the complex (and I agree that it was a bit disappointing that the tower was closed) it was the newer part and the wonderful rooms and furniture that were amazing. It provides a better idea of what similar rooms might have looked like long ago and really allows one to imagine the time period. It also has wonderful gardens to walk through and perfect views of the river and Mill from the upper floors. Well worth a few hours of your time!
