Located in the Dordogne, La Chanteracoise is an iconic local artisan company, known for being the last artisanal rusk factory in France. With unique expertise passed down since the 1950s, it offers a diverse range of gourmet products – rusks, toasts, croutons, biscuits, breadcrumbs – all entirely handcrafted in its workshops in the Dordogne.

In its two shops, located in Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, La Chanteracoise welcomes visitors into a warm and inviting gourmet world. These are much more than just retail outlets: they are places for meeting, tasting, and sharing, perfectly embodying the values of quality, tradition, and local produce.

Handcrafted products made locally

In the store aisles, you will find all the products made in the nearby workshops:

• Conventional, gourmet and organic rusks : authentic, sugar-free, brioche, chocolate, organic cereals and seeds, organic muesli;
• Organic croutons to accompany soups and salads, available in classic and original recipes (plain, garlic, onion, Comté cheese);
• Conventional and organic appetizer toasts, for your aperitifs with friends: plain, 7 cereals, fig, organic herbs of Provence, organic Guérande salt;
• Artisanal biscuits : vanilla shortbread, hazelnut shortbread, walnut crunch, salted caramel crunch, chocolate hazelnut shortbread, hazelnut shortbread, hazelnut crunch;
• A fine and crispy breadcrumb, ideal for your culinary preparations.

All these products are made from 100% French wheat flour, without additives or preservatives. The production process remains true to traditional recipes and techniques, with numerous manual steps such as molding, placing on racks, and packaging.

In Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, the shops open onto the workshops, offering a direct view of the production process. Visitors can watch the various products being made live, making the experience even more immersive.

Both outlets also offer local products from other producers in the region and personalized arrangements to give as gifts or to treat yourself.

Free visits and a discovery of culinary heritage

Next to the shop in Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle, a new visitor center called "La Biscothèque" allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of rusks. This space retraces the history of rusks, the company, and former rusk factories, with a projection room, a play area for children, and old advertising archives.

A visit to the Biscuit Library is free, either self-guided or with a guide, and concludes with a complimentary tasting. It's a must-see for families, the curious, and all lovers of culinary traditions. Reservations are required for groups of more than 10 people.
