Located in the Dordogne region, La Chanteracoise is an iconic artisanal company in the region, known for being the last artisanal biscuit factory in France. With its unique expertise passed down since the 1950s, it offers a wide range of gourmet products— biscottes, toast, croutons, biscuits, breadcrumbs —made entirely by hand in its workshops in the Dordogne.
In its two boutiques, located in Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, La Chanteracoise welcomes visitors into a warm and welcoming gourmet world. These are much more than just points of sale: they are places for meeting, tasting and sharing, which perfectly embody the values of quality, tradition and terroir.
Handcrafted products made on site
In the store aisles, you will find all the products manufactured in the nearby workshops:
- Conventional, gourmet and organic rusks : authentic, sugar-free, brioche, chocolate, organic cereals and seeds, organic muesli;
- Organic croutons to accompany soups and salads, available in classic and original recipes (plain, garlic, onion, comté);
- Conventional and organic aperitif toasts, for your aperitifs with friends: plain, 7 cereals, figs, organic herbs from Provence, organic Guérande salt;
- Artisanal biscuits : vanilla biscuits, hazelnut biscuits, crunchy walnut biscuits, salted butter caramel crunchy biscuits, chocolate hazelnut shortbread biscuits, hazelnut shortbread biscuits, hazelnut crispy biscuits;
- A fine and crispy breadcrumb, ideal for your culinary preparations.
All these products are made from 100% French wheat flour, without additives or preservatives. The manufacturing process remains faithful to the recipes and know-how of yesteryear, with many manual steps such as molding, placing on a grid, putting in bags, etc.
Lively and gourmet shops
In Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle and Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, the shops open onto the workshops, offering a direct view of production. You can see how the various products are made live, making the experience even more immersive.
Both outlets also offer local products from other producers in the region and personalized compositions to give as gifts or to treat yourself.
Free tours and a discovery of gourmet heritage
Next to the Saint-Léon-sur-l'Isle store, a new visitor center called "La Biscothèque" allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of biscotti. This space traces the history of biscotti, the company, and the old biscotti factories, with a screening room, a play area for children, and old advertising archives.
The visit to the Biscothèque is free, self-guided or with a guide, and ends with a complimentary tasting. It is a must-see for families, the curious, and all lovers of culinary traditions. Reservations are required for groups of more than 10 people.
