    • THE MANEYROL MILL: WALNUTS, AN ARTISAN TRADITION IN THE HEART OF THE BLACK PÉRIGORD

An artisanal production rooted in Pazayac

Located in Pazayac, just a few kilometers from Terrasson-Lavilledieu, the Moulin de Maneyrol perpetuates an ancestral tradition linked to the Périgord walnut. This artisanal operation is part of an area renowned for the quality of its walnut groves and its expertise in walnut processing. The mill strives to produce virgin walnut oil using a process that respects the fruit and its aromas.

      A gentle and controlled process

The walnut kernels used are carefully selected, then gently heated and pressed without excessive roasting. This method produces a walnut oil with a pure and persistent taste, characterized by balanced aromas, without bitterness or acidity. This technical know-how gives the oil produced at Moulin de Maneyrol a taste identity recognized by both consumers and professional juries.

      A multi-award winning production

The mill's seriousness and rigor have been recognized on numerous occasions at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, including several gold medals. In 2018, the farm received the Prix d'Excellence, awarded only to producers who consistently deliver quality work. These distinctions confirm the mill's commitment to high-quality artisanal production.

      A local and sustainable commitment

The walnuts are grown in local orchards, according to the principles of organic farming. The company is certified organic at the European level. Part of the production is also carried out on a contract basis for individuals or local producers who wish to process their own harvest. This operation helps to promote the short supply chain and maintain a dynamic local agricultural economy.

      An educational and gourmet visit

The site can be visited all year round. An educational video retraces the stages of the transformation. In summer, pressing demonstrations take place twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m.), allowing visitors to discover how the mill works. The adjoining shop offers direct sales of the entire range: oils, kernels, nut flours, as well as selected regional products.

Things to discover around the Moulin de Maneyrol

The visit to the mill can be extended by exploring the historic center of Terrasson-Lavilledieu, its medieval streets and its famous Gardens of the Imagination.
The charming village of Saint-Amand-de-Coly, classified among the most beautiful in France, is worth a detour.
In Montignac, the Lascaux IV center allows you to explore the world of prehistory.
Hiking trails crisscross the surrounding countryside, particularly around La Dornac, Cublac and Chavagnac. Finally, the local markets of Terrasson, Le Lardin-Saint-Lazare and Montignac are perfect for extending the gourmet experience.

We had the pleasure of meeting the mill's new manager! High-quality product, made from organic walnuts. He let us taste his oil: a real treat! A wonderful encounter, an address to treasure and recommend without hesitation. And I'm also giving 5 stars to his partner's jams, which are simply...excellent! The young folks from Haute-Savoie, accompanied by Koda the malamute 😉

We were able to taste walnut and hazelnut oils; they're delicious. There's also a nice selection of fruit compotes, well worth a visit.

Authentic setting and a more than warm and friendly welcome. It's a shame for my disabled and especially very tired husband not to have shared this moment with me. Thank you very much for welcoming me and advising me this afternoon. Your products will make people happy. All the best.
