Brewery of La Chanoine 100% organic craft beers from Périgord Noir

The Chanoine Brewery produces organic, handcrafted beers in the Périgord Noir region.

At the foot of the magnificent Hautefort castle, in the village of the same name, lies the Chanoine craft brewery. Brewed by a couple from the Périgord region who returned to their roots after 20 years working both on and under the water, the project began in December 2015.

The beers from Brasserie du Chanoine have all been 100% organic since the beginning. They are ECOCERT certified. This is one of the brewers' core principles: working as naturally as possible with high-quality products to create authentic and robust flavors. The labels are designed by a local graphic designer and illustrator, and printed by a local eco-friendly printer. Beer production is continuous, year-round, and you can find their beers in the Biocoop network in the Dordogne and the surrounding region. They are also distributed in local farmers' markets and some gourmet shops. But the easiest and most enjoyable way to discover them is to visit the brewery shop in Hautefort (closed in January, open from February to June, Thursday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM; during peak season, open Tuesday to Saturday at the same times). On site, you'll of course find all the beers from Brasserie du Chanoine, available in small or large bottles. You'll also find a selection of organic wines from the region and local produce.

Guided tours of the craft brewery are available by appointment outside the summer period and on Wednesdays at 5pm in July and August.

• The Canon's Blonde (Light and floral blonde, rather typical of Belgium)
• The Ephemeral (Blonde, American pale ale, fruity hops that change regularly)
• The Canon's White Lady (a hoppy, fruity and refreshing white beer)

• Maya La Belle (Honey Amber)
• Superior Bitter (English-style amber IPA)
• Narcose (A triple hopped beer)
• Idée Noire (a dark Irish Stout)

The beers from La Brasserie du Chanoine also come in seasonal versions ("Summer is coming") and single-batch brews (currently "La Claque," a winter blonde ale), offering regular little surprises. The brewers enjoy experimenting with new recipes, indulging their passion, and offering something new to their customers.
