    • It is in the heart of the Monbazillac terroir, on a hill overlooking the banks of the Dordogne and the historic city of Bergerac , that the wines of Château Grande Maison have been produced for decades, exceptional organic wines.

The estate was taken over in 2012 by Jean-Louis and Benjamin Chabrol. Always in a qualitative perspective, the entire production is subject to the rules of organic farming to which is added the biodynamic method, which allows our wines to express all their character and the best of this terroir.

EXCEPTIONAL ORGANIC WINES OF BERGERAC AND MONBAZILLAC

      Vineyard: 14 hectares

It is in the heart of the Monbazillac terroir, on a hill overlooking the banks of the Dordogne and the historic city of Bergerac , that the wines of Château Grande Maison have been produced for decades, exceptional organic wines. This old 13th century fortified house has the qualities of a unique environment:

      • The general exposure is due south and all the plots are on more or less accentuated slopes.
      • Its pond in the heart of the estate is an exceptional asset for promoting botrytis, this fungus which makes Monbazillac unique and rich.
      • Clay-limestone soil with an outcrop of silica allowing the white wines to have a certain freshness.

Always in a qualitative perspective, the entire production is subject to the rules of organic farming to which is added the biodynamic method, which allows our wines to express all their character and the best of this terroir. Among the 14 hectares of vines on the estate, 10 are cultivated with white vines (60% semillon, 25% sauvignon, 15% muscadelle) and 4 with red vines (90% merlot, cabernet-franc).

The harvest is done manually with several successive sorting for the Monbazillac . The wines are matured partly in stainless steel vats and mainly in new barrels.

A pretty 13th century house welcomes you every day except Sunday to taste our wines in the pure tradition and share our know-how with you: from 8:30 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 7 pm.

For a more in-depth knowledge of our field, I invite you to consult our website .

Wines: Monbazillac, Bergerac red, Bergerac blanc, Côte de Bergerac red and Bergerac Rosé.

The Château Grande Maison opens the doors of its new room in which you can take place as you wish, tasting workshops or dinners, private evenings and company meals, intimate weddings...

Wonderful, tiny family-run winery specializing in Monbazillac wines. We have been to the large Chateau Monbazillac previously, but we wanted a smaller more intimate experience. We called ahead, because it is harvest season (early October), and the winemaker’s wife/tasting room manager agreed on a time. She is charming, and speaks very good English. We wound up buying over a dozen bottles for ourselves and as gifts. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a smaller, local experience. Merci!

By far the best wine tasting I have done in this area. Nice people and of course great wines. The owners makes the wine tasting an experience you will not forget. A tour around the premises is also a possibility. If you're in the neighborhood please visit them, you will not be disappointed
