Arriving late, around 5:20 PM, we went to the tourist office. It was closed; I was looking at the information outside when an employee came out of the office, not even a hello! I'm disappointed, to say the least.

While in the area, we attended the second edition of the 45th Parallel in Cendrieux, organized by the Greater Périgueux Tourist Office. What a disappointment! €28 per person (drinks not included) to listen to a dreary musical ballad about a little girl's heart attack. The meal was no better: eating at plastic tables and chairs, from cardboard plates and cups, pea soup, potatoes, and melon, all accompanied by a band that stopped playing before the cheese course. We didn't even wait for dessert and left. The organization needs improvement; we didn't know when to get up to collect our food, and by the time we'd waited in line, sometimes there was nothing left. We understand the effort and dedication this must have required from the team and we encourage them to continue. But €28 x 2 for such an evening is highway robbery. The added bonus was that the water, which was advertised as included, was actually charged at €3 per bottle.

The charming staff here can make your visit to the beautiful historic town of Perigueux much more enjoyable. They can provide a map and brochures for the many places to visit or just advise where a particular place is. I wonder how many languages they can speak!
