    • Château de Clauzuroux, gîtes and guest rooms in a residence listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments

The magnificent Château de Clauzuroux dates from the 17th century. Its architecture is French style, it unfolds in H, with a dwelling between two elegant 3-storey pavilions. Go through its 18th century gate, then take the paths bordered by a very beautiful park and a French garden whose layout dates from 1776, with a water staircase and fountains.

The overall architecture of the castle consists of the dwelling as well as outbuildings, a mill, a reach (basin) on the Pude stream with a small bridge, outbuildings and a circular dovecote. The Château de Clauzuroux has been a family home since 1920, it is a very beautiful bucolic environment to come and spend a quiet holiday, well located to explore this region of Périgord Vert, so generous in nature, pretty villages and heritage. The Château is a private residence, but it is possible to visit it during the summer season and during Heritage Days and celebrations such as “Château en Fête”, on a free visit.

The Château offers 5 guest rooms located in the main building and the dwelling, with a view of the courtyard or the garden. It is also possible to stay in one of the 2 gîtes, which have a capacity of 11 and 15 people, each with a garden and a private swimming pool, a shared tennis court and the park of the French castle.

Booked this place about six months before for one night using a Bongo voucher. At arrival nobody was aware of our reservation but as all rooms were available, we got to choose a room. The idea was to get a welcome cocktail but there was only fruitjuice. I can understand that because they were not aware of any reservation. The pool with leaves and green water was accessable. All by all we got a friendly welcome and had the whole place - that looks it can use a good makeover - for ourselves. The bed was not the best, rather worn out but we slept well. Breakfast was average. Coffee was ok but the stale re-backed bread from a few days before was so hard it was unedable. The place also is rather far away of everything and not much in the neighbourhood. Will not go again.

Really lovely place to stay. The chateau and it's grounds are stunning. Severine & Patrick are great hosts, with lots of knowledge and advice about the local region. Rooms large, clean, and well-equipped.
