Gîtes in Périgord Vert: The Château de Clauzuroux
For a quiet stay, in a sumptuous charming residence in Périgord Vert, come and discover the Château de Clauzuroux, listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments. This family residence, in the same family since 1920 is an elegant castle dating from the 17th century. It consists of a dwelling, surrounded by 2 pavilions as well as outbuildings, a mill, a reach (basin) on the Pude stream with a small bridge, outbuildings and a circular dovecote.
Each cottage has a private heated swimming pool with a beach equipped with deckchairs.
The cellar cottage is located in a wing of the castle, it is pleasant and on one level with its fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms and the possibility of renting the guest rooms inside the castle building. The cottage enjoys a beautiful view of the courtyard and the French garden of the castle, with its elegant fountains. Terrace with garden furniture, BBQ, for children the garden offers a play area with swing, a sandbox. For athletes, come hit a few balls at the castle 's tennis court !
The Gîte de l'Orangerie offers a beautiful view of the park, it is spread over 2 levels, it is completely independent from the rest of the castle. Enjoy a private swimming pool, a petanque court, an outdoor area with garden furniture and BBQ and a beautiful open view of the countryside. The cottages are both equipped with free WIFI.
The Château de Clauzuroux is located in the north of the Périgord Vert, not far from the Charente, it is an interesting holiday resort and well located for a quiet, green holiday. From the gîtes it is possible to reach Aubeterre-sur-Drone (and its sumptuous monolithic church) and Brantôme, two pretty villages. Brantôme is the Green Venice of Périgord, a charming village where the water flows with grace in the middle of a heritage of great beauty, Angoulême and Nontron (and its quality craftsmanship, in particular the knives of Nontron) are about forty minutes away, Périgueux the capital of Périgord Blanc with its old center labeled City of Art and History, the Saint-Front cathedral, are 50 minutes away and the pretty village of Saint-Jean-de-Côle, labeled among the Most Beautiful Villages from France is 40 minutes away.
Note: The Château de Clauzuroux is open to visitors during the summer and on heritage days.
