Located in the commune of Tamniès, just a few minutes from Sarlat-la-Canéda, the Tamniès pond is a must-see for swimming in the Dordogne. Nestled in the heart of the verdant Périgord Noir region, this Blue Flag -certified body of water welcomes families and nature lovers every summer. Access is free for children (no charge), and parking is available on site.

A body of water created as part of an agricultural project

The history of the Tamniès pond dates back to 1968, during a land consolidation project in the commune. Each landowner ceded a small portion of their land to allow for the creation of a body of water for irrigation. It wasn't until the 1980s that the commune had the idea of opening the site to the public, transforming it into a true natural and recreational area in the Dordogne.
