An attractive region in Périgord Vert

The Naturally Périgord Tourist Office manages a sector that is located in Périgord Vert. In the center, the town of Excideuil, further north Lanouaille. All around, an attractive natural space, a beautiful playground for all. It is a less touristy sector than its immediate neighbours: the agglomeration of Périgueux or the Périgord Noir. Lovers of nature, calm, anti-corks, lovers of rustling leaves, small birds and gurgling waterfalls, will be in heaven.

Hiking paradise

Nature leisure and activities, this is not what is missing. In the region, more than 500 km of marked trails await you. The hike can be done on foot, by bike (your own or rented), by mountain bike for the intrepid and even on horseback (with yours or on a ride through an equestrian center). Are you a trail lover? Note that the Gorges de l'Auvézère have trails designed to train you. There is something for all levels, in an absolutely unique setting in Périgord, a mid-mountain atmosphere with white water to reinvigorate you. The incredible treasure hunt for the whole family

In Périgord and throughout New Aquitaine, we are lucky to have Poï'z hidden in our forests and villages... You don't know the Poïz? These are facetious little characters who tell you adventures to embark on a geocaching treasure hunt! Terra Aventura, it's free! You download the application on your smartphone and have fun looking for the "caches", to find badges with the effigy of the Poï'z, the children love it! We walk and we learn while having fun. 6 Tèrra Aventura courses (in fr) are available in the Naturellement Périgord sector.

Outdoor activities for all tastes

Children need to spend their energy during the holidays, to move, while being busy.

Introduce them to unusual activities such as gold panning, caving, kayaking, in white water, or even canoeing (night or day outing), golf, electrically assisted moutain biking, lasergame, pony riding, climbing, fishing...

Swimming while on vacation!

All these activities make you hot and tired, do you need a day off? Come and enjoy the bathing places ( supervised or not, always be very careful in white water and rivers). The municipal swimming pool of Excideuil awaits you for a splash. The Rouffiac leisure center is a magical place to spend a really full day. The beach is free and equipped with a large playground. You can walk in this beautiful natural space and do water activities (paddle, pedalo, canoe) as well as wake board on the Rouffiac cable park.

For swimming in the river

Do you prefer the freshness of rivers surrounded by nature to swimming pools and ponds? So you are going to enjoy the Auvézère gorges near Saint-Mesmin and the Savignac-Lédrier forge. You will find several small beaches along the hiking trails - be careful not to approach the Saut Ruban waterfall! Downstream, you can swim in the town of Cubjac at the level of the bridge, still in the Auvézère.
In Isle à Mayac between Savignac-les Eglises and Le Dognon, a playground and picnic tables are set up in a meadow, and you can also cool off in Saint-Vincent-sur-l'Isle at the level of the small bridge.
But for children, the best is still the beach at the Rouffiac leisure base or the Excideuil swimming pool (supervised swimming).
Always watch your children in areas where there is no lifeguard, as the current may be strong and they are your responsibility!

Informative tours of historical and cultural heritage

Want to learn, visit and follow a guide? In the heart of the Auvézère gorges, come and discover the Forges de Savignac Lédrier, testimony to the industrial past of the region through a very well preserved complex, with a waterfall and a very pleasant tour.

Not far from the forges is the eco-museum of the Papeterie de Vaux in Payzac. Come for a visit and take part in the family paper-making workshop. An old know-how, well valued through concrete learning with a playful museography for all.

The Cité de Clairvivre (in fr) in Salagnac (classified as a 20th century heritage site) was designed in the 1930s to treat lung injuries from the First World War, in the middle of the Périgord countryside.
Unusual place, where the utopian architecture of the 1930s rubs shoulders with the farms and fields of Périgord! A real city in the countryside, where you can find shops, restaurants, horse riding and hiking trails.
The best way to discover this city and its history is by playing Terra aventura in the footsteps of Zonelib, the Poï'z of the resistance.

In the region, the farms of producers open their doors to you to meet the trades of market gardening, breeding, crafts. The Beausoleil Farm (in fr), the Châtenet Farm (in fr), the Garenne Farm (in fr)…
