    • Between Sarlat and Bergerac, a short distance from Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Cahors, and the Lot River, the canton of Monpazier offers visitors a wealth of attractions. The Bastide of Monpazier (13th century): a true jewel of medieval architecture, considered the most beautiful and the model among the 300 bastides of southwest France.

In 1991, the fortified town of Monpazier, " One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France," was designated a " Grand Site National " (National Heritage Site) along with Biron and Capdrot, thus preserving and showcasing this unique architectural and urban heritage. The Château de Biron, seat of one of the four baronies of Périgord, represents all types of architecture, from the 12th-century keep to the 18th-century buildings, including the apartments and the Renaissance chapel. It is open to the public year-round. Other attractions include the 15 churches in the canton (13 of which are Romanesque), numerous artists and craftspeople, local producers, markets, the mushroom market, guided tours, and archaeological excursions.
